MAXA WHITFORD

Bowling - 2004

MAXA WHITFORD began bowling in the local junior leagues while attending Corning West. She took her talents to the Corning Community College bowling team where she helped the men's team (they had no ladies team then) under the direction of C-PP Hall of Famer Bev Beebe to the NJCAA tournament. Following her two years at CCC, Maxa went to Fredonia State and helped that school to the Collegiate Nationals in Oklahoma City. As a senior, Maxa anchored a team that defeated national power Erie CC, led by future pro bowling star Cindy Coburn, on their way to the nationals. She started bowling in the Corning Women's Bowling Association in 1977 and has been a top performer on the local lanes ever since. She has bowled in a number of city, state and national tournaments with great success and victories. Max has also been named to a number of All-City teams. She currently serves on the board of directors for the CWB A, serving as a chairman on various committees.
