Track & Field - 1995
DAVID HERRITT (Peekskill, NY) was an outstanding high-jumper for the Corning East teams that went undefeated in the late 1970s. He, along with Hall of Famers Mark McMillan, Dick Horton and Wayne McMillan, formed the nucleus of those strong teams. He steadily raised the East High, high jump record from 6'2" to 6'8" and consistently finished in the top three in long and triple jumps. He won the high jump at prestigious Eddy Invitational in 1980. Went on to SUNY Brockport where he served the track team as co-captain in both his junior and senior seasons. After finishing second in the SUNYAC meet in both the high jump and the long jump, he was named to the All-State team. He finished his education by earning a law degree from Cumberland Law School.
