Track & Cross Country - 2001
John Duke graduated from Corning East in 1989 and was a standout member of both the track & field and cross-county teams winning three varsity letters with each team. John was an All STC first team member as a junior and senior in the 800, 1600 and 1600 relay team for track and field and All-STC first team for cross country. He was undefeated in dual meets in the 800 and 1600 during his junior and senior seasons and also captured the Section IV championship both years. His time of 4:22 in the 1600 is still a school record. John led the East cross country team to the Section IV championship as a senior when he was the Section IV individual champion and then capped his high school career by winning the Class B State Cross Country Championship in 1988. He earned his BS in Materials Science Engineering from the University of Utah and earned an MBA with honors from Harvard in 2000. He is currently working for Corning Inc. and lives in Horseheads with his wife Cessliy.
