DOUG ALTMANSBERGER

Lacrosse - 2001

Doug Altmansberger graduated from Corning East in 1991 following a brilliant career as one of the finest defensemen ever to wear the maroon and white. Doug was a three-year starter for the Trojans and was named All-STL as a junior and senior. He was named a high school All-American as a senior and earned a full lacrosse scholarship to Hofstra University. While at East, Doug set a team record by grabbing 173 ground balls and was the highest scoring long stick as a senior with four goals and three assists while serving as team captain. Doug was a captain on the 1990 Corning East NYS Class B Championship team. He also played in the Empire State Games. Doug was a four-year starter for Hofstra and served as co-captain during his senior season. He was named an Academic All-Star in 1995 and participated in the North-South All Star game and capped his career at Hofstra with a spot on the North Atlantic Conference All-Star Team. Doug has continued to play lacrosse with the Long Island Lacrosse Club, a team that has twice won the National Club Championship defeating Team Toyota with the Gait brothers. He currently lives on Long Island in Bayside.
